Katy’s Beginnings

Her career in Psychology kicked off at Cal State Monterey Bay, where she graduated with a B.A. and was a captain of CSUMB’s women’s golf team for four years. Katy also has been riding horses since she was five and competed throughout the United States.

Educational Background

Dr. Kathryn Keithly, Katy for short, is a licensed Educational Psychologist (#3485) and is a Board-Certified Sport Psychologist with a State certification in School Psychology. She also holds a Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology, as well as an M.A. in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Educational Psychology.

Her Present Activities

Katy consults and conducts assessments within the greater Monterey Bay Area in an effort to improve the lives of students residing there, as well as their opportunities for athletic development. She also provides training sessions on behavioral management for parents and teachers so they can easier relate with their children and students.

As a certified Sports Psychologist, she can also provide assistance for athletes who are looking to improve their mental edge and boost their performance in the field, as well as Neurophysical assessments as part of her specialty.

Katy’s Focus

Her participation and focus on sports have given her new insights on how it can help build confidence and self-esteem for students with learning disabilities. This realization was also the main reason her Master’s and Doctoral research centered on the positive impact sports can have on learning and overall educational development.

Katy specializes in IEE evaluations and enjoys helping families and school districts understand how to provide the best experience for their students.
